Bon Voyage: Virtual Yacht Party! — EXTRA IS MY ORDINARY®

My virtual social life is LIT!!

Back in June I attended a “yacht party” to celebrate one of my best sister-friends. My bestie, Mira, is so EXTRAordinary and it is of NO surprise that she would find a way to creatively celebrate her milestone birthday with her friends and family that has left us all with such a fun memory to reflect back on.

My hubby, Mom, daughter and I entered the virtual party ready to have a fabulous time! Afterall, we know how Mira gets down; EXTRAordinarily. We entered the party and had an opportunity to mingle in the grown and sexy lounge. Yes, all the rooms had themes.

I’ve seen posts on social media claiming that 2020 is cancelled, but for those of us who have already adapted the mindset that “life goes on” we understand that life is different, but it is certainly NOT cancelled!

Celebrating life has NOT been cancelled. Bringing people together and choosing to focus on what is good about life has NOT been cancelled. Being creative has NOT been cancelled. Using your imagination has NOT been cancelled.

Turning 40 is a significant milestone in a woman’s life (Read my post about it here), and apparently a few of Mira’s favorite celebs who inspire her creatively and from an entrepreneurial perspective understands this too!! In turn, they blessed her with well-wishes to help celebrate her on her special day. As her guests, we were so excited to hear the legendary Doug e Fresh send a heartfelt birthday message that he wrapped up with a bebop and free-style of his famous “La Di Da Di” song. DOPE!! It didn’t stop there because Charlamagne Tha God couldn’t make the boat, but he knows how much of an inspiration he is to the birthday queen so he blessed her with a very inspiring message!!

In case you were wondering, celebrity guests always bring an added layer of excitement and energy to the party. With our energy on 10, we split into two groups and were whisked off to separate rooms to let that energy out the right way- playing games! The birthday girl LOVES games and she planned two fun group games for us. One of her other besties ran “Black Card Revoked” and I guided the other group with a game of “Sexy Scattergories”. So, so fun!! The virtual backgrounds from amazing yachts created a great visual effect and we actually felt like we were bouncing back and forth between rooms on an actual yacht.

When the game was over, we were brought back into the “grown and sexy lounge” for one last celebrity video message for the birthday queen. Kev On Stage cracked us all up with his pastor message/blessing for the birthday Queen!

For two hours I witnessed my amazing friend laugh, sing, chat, and fill completely up with good vibes and great energy. She is such a fantastic example of being open to the possibilities of making life whatever YOU decide to make it.

Celebrating my friend virtually taught me three things:

When a person chooses to celebrate themself with others it is a gift for everyone who attends. Somehow in every group and family there is always that one person who has the “gift” of bringing people together, and when this happens a ripple effect of love can be felt near and far. Although virtual, I could feel the love that night’s celebration!
Life without games and laughter is dull! My best friend is practically a comedian and has a love for comedy and games. Life happens fast, but “laughter is an instant vacation”. Pair that with playing games, and we all had the escape we probably didn’t realize we yearned for.
One person’s executed idea has the power to open the door for so many people to free their own. After seeing how Mira used her creativity to bring smiles, love, and laughter to her friends and family, I became inspired to implement some of her ideas into virtual events of my own. Being on the virtual yacht was a reminder to keep pushing to fulfill dreams even if it looks a little bit different in [virtual] reality!
