The Queen of Healthy Hair Definitely Gets it Right: A Product Review
As someone who is no stranger to trying hair products for my natural hair, I was eager to experience them on wash-day while on vacation at home in the Virgin Islands.
Being introduced to St. Charles Haircare has been a great experience for my scalp and hair! Carol, the creator of St. Charles Natural Hair Care shares that she earned the title “Queen of Healthy Hair”, and I now understand why. Her all-natural hair care line, made in Brooklyn, is revitalizing and true nourishment for the scalp and hair.
After a day at the beach, the salt water and sun really dries my hair out, and the moisture needs to be replenished. Using a small amount, I found the shampoo to be very light with a quick lather. My hair felt clean after just one wash and my eyes did not burn or become irritated when the suds rolled down my face. The familiar ingredients make me so happy because I grew up using many of them during my childhood. Not only are they familiar, but they are tried, true, and still used throughout the Caribbean and globally to cleanse and heal. For instance, aloe is the first ingredient in the shampoo which contains enzymes that help to repair dead skin cells on the scalp.
Next, I tried the conditioner which has a thick, creamy texture and I could tell immediately that my hair would be happy with it. I was not disappointed; my hair felt soft upon application. The Caribbean gyal in me loves that the first ingredient of the moisturizer is mango. Not only are mangos my favorite fruit, but they contain Vitamin A, which aid in hair growth.
Although I have thick hair, I didn’t need to use a lot of product to get the desired results. Truthfully, all I need is a product line that uses ingredients that I can pronounce and identify while helping me to maintain clean, moisturized hair. Simple.
Let’s talk about this 811 oil! I am adamant about maintaining a healthy color-treated hair. This scalp and hair oil has been helping to keep the moisture locked in, and I am so impressed.
The quest for a haircare line that actually does what it claims to do ends here!
When I made the decision to go back to wearing my hair natural, I knew that the biggest challenge would be finding the right hair products. Honestly, I didn’t even know what I was seeking in a product line for my hair. It became apparent early on in my journey that my hair needed moisture more than anything else. One of the biggest mistakes I made was that I kept riding the bandwagon of purchasing products geared towards enhancing a curl pattern that literally doesn’t exist. Now that I know what my hair needs, I’m super excited that there is an all natural haircare line for me. I am looking forward to trying all the products in their hair care line.
A bonus - I asked my husband to wash and condition his hair with the St. Charles products. After a wash and condition, my husband said, “the products feel refreshing!”. I absolutely agree with him.
Give these EXTRAordinary handmade, USA made, black-owned, and woman-owned product line a try sooner than later!
